Proteoquant Proteome Quantification Assay Kit FAQ
Basics
What is the Proteoquant Proteome Quantification Kit?
The Proteoquant Proteome Quantification Kit is a protein concentration microplate assay kit designed to be used to determine the amount of protein recovered from cell and tissue extracts.
Why is it called the Proteome Quantification Kit?
The Proteoquant Proteome Quantification Kit is compatible with universal protein extraction methods used when the experimental objective is to extract and solubilize the entire proteome. These methods use aggressive lysis buffers containing detergents and reducing agents that interfere with other quantification assays.
Is the Proteoquant Proteome Quantification Kit a BCA Assay?
The Proteoquant Proteome Quantification Kit is based on the simple and scalable BCA assay, but utilizes a protocol-and-materials modification that makes the kit compatible with the reagents used in universal protein extraction methods.
Why Does the Proteoquant Proteome Quantification Kit Come with Two Protocols?
Protocol 1 on the package insert is for the reducing agent compatible assay, which should be used when the protein extract solution contains any amount of TCEP, DTT, or ϐ-mercaptoethanol. If none of these reducing agents are present, the Kit can be used to carry out a standard BCA assay by following Protocol 2 on the package insert.
What is the Maximum Amount of Reducing Agent Tolerated by the Assay?
When used in accord with Protocol 1 of the package insert, the Proteoquant Proteome Quantification Kitassay tolerates the presence of up to 10 mM TCEP, 5 mM DTT, and 25 mM ϐ-mercaptoethanol without loss of accuracy.
Purchasing Considerations
What Additional Materials Do I Need?

How Many Assays Can I Do with One Kit?
The Proteoquant Proteome Quantification Kitcontains sufficient materials for 980 microplate assays.
What is the Shelf Life of the Kit?
The product shelf live of materials provided with the Proteoquant Proteome Quantification Kitis two years.
