Protein Discovery Inc. CEO Chuck Witkowski to Present Clinical Mass Spectrometry Concepts at Dow Jones "Health Care Innovations 2006" Conference

Knoxville, Tennessee, September 12, 2006—Chuck Witkowski, president and chief executive officer of Protein Discovery, Inc., will present a talk on clinical mass spectrometry at the Dow Jones "Health Care Innovations 2006" conference, September 12-13 at the Hotel Sofitel in Redwood City, California. Mr. Witkowski's talk will address challenges affecting the adoption of mass spectrometry as a routine aspect of medical research and clinical practice.

Mass Spectrometry is a well understood technique for profiling biological samples and has been effectively implemented in thousands of research laboratories. Chuck Witkowski believes that the clinical value of mass spectrometry is both large and undeveloped. According to Mr. Witkowski, "Health care innovations begin in the lab with new biological insights and better ways of applying new information to benefit patients. Mass spectrometry is already a valuable element of drug discovery and clinical research. As sample preparation of clinical specimens becomes easier, mass spectrometry will find increasing use both in the discovery laboratory and medical diagnostics."

Mr. Witkowski's talk at Health Care Innovations 2006 will begin at 10:10 AM on Wednesday, September 13, 2006. More information on the conference is available at http://healthcare.dowjones.com.
